Natural Joint Pain Remedies
Joint pain is a common condition that can afflict any age in the form of mild discomfort to an all out arthritic affliction. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), by 2030 it is estimated that 67 million Americans age 18 and older will be diagnosed with arthritis. Currently, 1 in every 250 American children struggle with a rheumatic or arthritic condition. With the rise of these joint afflictions it is essential to begin a pre-emptive strike to avoid a potential future struggle. If you are already challenged by joint pain there are many things you can do to manage and sometimes even reverse it.
Food Remedies
If you want to prevent joint pain or reduce current pain, applying various remedies could help. Western medications are short of miraculous but should be used as a last attempt due to the fact that over time they can possibly reap side effects on other parts of your body, namely your organs.
Anti-Inflammatory Diet – If you are eating more processed food than fresh, live produce chances are that eventually your joints could suffer. Inflammation is one of the number one causes of pain and by simply eating an anti-inflammatory diet could be the first step to healing. Concentrate on such foods as salmon, sardines, anchovies, mushrooms, green tea, papaya, pineapple, berries, extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil and broccoli.
Avoid Inflammatory Foods – It is no surprise that crap will make you feel like crap. Stay away from the whites such as processed sugar and white flour. Nightshades are also theorized to release toxic chemicals that our bodies can handle but over time take their toll on our joints. There are five nightshades which are: white potatoes (eat sweet potatoes instead), most peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and nicotine (another reason not smoke or chew).
Supplemental Remedies
Acupuncture – This is a 5000+ year old therapy discovered when Chinese soldiers were wounded by arrows and realized that chronic ailments disappeared. It is mostly painless and very safe. The theory is that it is capable of moving stuck energy that could be causing pain. Six to eight weeks, twice a week for forty-five minute sessions can work wonders on joint pain.
Plant, Herb and Fruit Remedies – Turmeric, bromelain (derived from pineapple) and boswellia (African/Asian tree remedy) are accumulative anti-inflammatory supplements that work very well to reduce joint pain. It is safe to take two to four per day, every day. Turmeric and bromelain also have digestive aid properties as well.
Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM – This is a formula mostly derived from animal tissue and has been highly successful for reducing joint pain.
Exercise
Joints are very vulnerable to over exercising. Be sure and treat your joints with care especially when weightlifting or performing high impact aerobics. If they scream, pick another exercise.
